A hotel in Basingstoke has just been praised by the Fire and Rescue Service for having a well maintained smoke alarm system. The hotel had a fire and the station commander stated that without the alarm, the fire would have spread and caused far more damage to the hotel.
But on the other hand a fire system contractor has been prosecuted under the Regulatory Reform (fire Safety) order 2005 for failing to maintain a fire alarm system in a care home in Manchester.
Inspectors found a list of problems and faults including a blown fuse overridden with a piece of wire, an alarm fault buzzer missing from the circuit board to name just a couple.
We should check any fire alarm system weekly and a full maintenance yearly for more details or help just give us a call.
